Adelaide River

We took a day trip to Adelaide River last week. A sleepy town, green and quite. Adelaide River War Cemetery is the only war cemetery on Australian soil. 432 servicemen and women and 63 civilians all perished during the bombing of Darwin.

During the WWII, after the bombing, it become the Australian and US military headquarters. Thousands of service personnel stationed in and around the town.
ANZAC day for us this year has taken on new meaning.

Lest we forget
