Market wrap up!

Just like that, it's all over!
What an amazing weekend we had!! Lots of chatting and laughing. Lots of wonderful customers that were really positive and excited about handmade!
It was really exciting to have people buy my stuff. Serious fun! Even though I have been selling for awhile now, online is very different to having someone stand in front of you and love what you do enough to hand over their hard earned money. I like it. I like it a lot.

Little zippers. Priced a little to high for that kind of market. Will be listing some on madeit later today :)

Mel's G O R G E O U S skirts!!
The Six Little Heart dresses were a massive success!! Sold out on the first day!!

Six Little Heart's boy shorts. Made at home by the marvelous Mel.

Lots of stock sold. Lots of business cards giving out. Even did some swaps with the wonderful family behind us selling rainbow play ribbons, capes and giant star crayons. Ost & Found, keep an eye out for them! Made at home in the top end of cause :)

I have learnt lots of things. Leaving things too the last minute may help me sew up a storm but it doesn't work for the family. It has been a really hard slog for them. I have done nothing, and I really do mean nothing the week of the market.

Also. Craft markets in Darwin are just that. Still a little old fashion. Good news is there are now a few of us that at looking to do something more up market. Like what you mob are lucky enough to have down south. Darwin has always had a passion for handmade and I think there are now enough bright sparks to tap into that wonderful pool of makers.....
to be continued...... xox

Confidence

Having a little crises of at the moment....
You know don't you? When you think you've got it and then you don't. Doubt creeps in......

I'm still working on the DQS#9. Thought I had it but now.....not so sure. And I'd really love some honest thoughts. Because you are my friends and you can be honest :)

Here's how she looks at the moment.
There will be linen diamonds all around the edge and then binding to finish her off. So the quilt will keep the hexagon shape.
I'm still not sold on it. Hard with crappy camera (waiting on insurance) but I'm thinking it might be missing something.....what to you think?

These are the other 2 fabric I thought I could add.....or not.

Otherwise I could scrap it and start again.
Thoughts please?? xox

Name Tag Swap

Are you going to Sew It Together? I am!! WOOHOO!! Just in case you hadn't worked it out ;)

Gypsy so kindly organised a secret name tag swap. And here is the one I made. Without the name.

What do you think? I love it! Was a little fiddly to make but so much fun!!

Paper pieced using a pattern out of a 1960's Handicraft's CWA book. And assembled using Dear Fii's flower brooch pattern. So there's felt on the back so hopefully it will keep it's shape.
If you are going, and I so hope you are, Cass at Snailblazer is hosting another swap. A sample swap. I'm thinking I might make something similar...or not. So hurry over and sign up! Load's of fun already and Melbourne is still over a month away!! xox

Wedding Quilt no. 2 and on time!

Hey you! How is your Easter long long weekend treating you? Me, totally blew my points for like the next month, but today is a new day and I will stay on track! More on that another day.
Today I want to show you the other wedding quilt I finished while I was away...
Fabric used - fat pack of "Love" by Amy Butler purchased from The Fat Quarter Shop
And my favorite white quilters muslin ;)

Pattern - I used Crazy Mom Quilts flea market fancy tutorial after seeing Corrie's. The quilt was going to be too big so I took one of the pieced strips and added it on the back. Very pleased with it!

I had heaps of scraps left over so I made a scrappy binding! Little tip, iron your seams open! I ironed mine to one side and the seams in the binding are too balky. Not that they will notice. If I had time I would have unpicked and redone them. At least now I know! And so do you ;)

Again the quilting was done by Wendy, a Horsham local, and member of Horsham Patchwork Quilters Inc. And again I used 100% Australian made cotton batting from Retro Mummy.
Quilted with love hearts on the 'Love' fabric for a love wedding quilt!! How cool is that?!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! I'm off to tidy then sew....I hope! xox

Wedding Quilt.....only 4 years late ;)

I am so happy with how this quilt has turned out!

Fabric used - 2 charm packs of 'Botany' by Lauren and Jessi Jung for Moda. I purchased them from Retro Mummy however they are all sold out. You can still get charm packs from the Fat Quarter Shop and in Australia from Busy Thimbles.

The white fabric is quilters muslin purchased from Retro Mummy. I love it! I will not be using anything else now. Beautiful and soft. Fantastic to work with.

So happy with the quilting! Was done by Wendy, a Horsham local, and member of Horsham Patchwork Quilters Inc.
I used 100% Australian made cotton batting from Retro Mummy. Beautiful and clean. Quite light in colour, so doesn't show up under the white. The white batting at my local Spotlight was more than twice the cost!!

And I have no idea who or what the binding fabric is lol! Was purchased at Horsham Sewing Centre and matches perfectly!

So there is quilt no. 1. Finished, gifted and hopefully on their bed or couch! Only thing missing is a label. Can't rush these things after all ;) xox

shop update

This little beauty is off to the shop!
And there is loads more there. Just in time to keep those kidlets left at home entertained!
Especially if you are a lady that lunches ;) xox

Grown ups only!

When hubby and I first moved in together we were still at uni and poor. Like we went to the op shop and got free furniture poor. Shorty after we got pregnant and went from uni poor to uni with kid poor. And then we had more and more and more kids! So for a long time we didn't have time or money to play 'house' and have extras stuff around like cushions....
Now we do!

They match our couch so well!

And yes, they are for grown ups only. Mine is the brown one and hubby's in the green and orange one lol!

Thanks for all the lovely comments and support! I love getting comments and feed back on what goes on in this little space of mine. And a big "Welcome" to the new readers our there :)

Better go, a parcel just arrived from Corrie!!!!! Woohoo! Quilting here I come!!! xox

it's started....

....Christmas present making

Big girl is stitching...for the first time on her own!!

Little girl tracing 'Merry Christmas'

Boy one is...well...helping!

Every year I tell myself I'm not going to leave it to the last minute and every year I do! This year I haven't even done my Christmas shopping!! Think I had to be more organised last year with a new baby in the house.
What about you?
I'm I the only one starting now??
And what about Santa?
Does he bring handmade goodies in your house or store brought ones?
Oh the decisions.....xox

what's hot and what's not

So I'm joining in Loobylu what's hot and what's not. Because I can.

What's Hot
Me - yes I am totally full of myself, love the attention and will tell any one that will listen. Not really! But I am super dooper excited because today I made the madeit list of wonderfuls for this week! Yay! So I guess that makes me hot in a non up myself but someone else thinks so kinda way.

Learning new things - I made these last night. So cute and fun and quick and did I say cute?! One is a kit from Fi and will become a brooch.

Blog land - That's you peeps! Thank you a thousand time over for all you kind words and support.
You ROCK!

What's Not
Pre teens/ tweens/pre pubescent girls - we had the period talk in this house tonight. Not cool. For me or her. Not that I am telling her that. I was all 'this is a wonderful thing' when really it sucks.

Northern Territory Government - or as my hubby says what government? There is no governing going on. Between child abuse cases, highest cost of housing in the country, lack of housing and support services for indigenous people, low standards in education...seriously I could go on and on and on...(but I do still love it here!)

James Hardie - Wankers. Enough said.

Check out more hot and not over here. Thanks again for all your lovely support!
Back tomorrow with my creative space xox
