meet Jessica

Jessica is Miss 9's first Blythe doll!!

We are both over the moon with her. Although this photo doesn't really show that. More hurry up so I can open her mum kinda photo!

So beautiful!

In the fire we lost all the girls baby dolls and accessories. So when the money come through they had a choice of replace them or choose a new doll. Miss 9 immediately screamed "BLYTHE PLEASE!" And she knew which one she wanted too, 'Urban Cowgirl'.

Needless to say Miss 7 now wants one too! This is after she had a complete meltdown when Miss 9 showed her Jessica's eyes change! Totally freaked Miss 7 out! But she very quickly got over that and we were straight onto the computer looking for one for her. However she appears to have tastes like her mother.....expensive!

We are all looking forward to sewing for our new friend! First up, a quilt, of course :) xox

Happy New Year!

Hi there! Long time! Hope you have all had a wonderful festive season. Between the crazy last minute Christmas organising, sewing and posting, like the day before!!, and then visitors from down south I have been away longer than I realised.
And I have missed you guys!!

Here's a wee bit of what I have been up too. No crafting or sewing though!

Happy snaps from Christmas. Turns out, it's tricky to take a photo of the whole four of them lol!

Miss now 9!

Miss 6 in her Retro Mummy Christmas dress

Mr. 3. Not a hope of getting him to hold still!

Little one in her Retro Mummy Christmas dress. She too didn't sit still!

And she is now walking!! And climbing!! Ekkkkk!!

We all had a lovely time. My darling hubby even came home 2 days before as a surprise. I ended up being very sick the week before.

New years....
beer pong....
messy....
not going to share pictures....ever!

So if you got a text from me, I'm really sorry. It was that silly American games fault ;)

We had almost 2 weeks with one of our closest and dearest family friends from down south, including New Years. We are already missing them like crazy and hanging out till March when we can see them again.
Hard sometimes living in this amazing place yet having so many of our friends and family in Vic. That's life!

2 of my favourite girls in the whole world...

the whole wonderful family....

and 3 of ours and all of theirs.

We have had the best time!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! xoxox

On the first day of Christmas...

...my true love gave to me, a boy who likes to climb trees!
Well, by the time I post this is will be the second day, so just ignore the date on the post :P

So after a bit of tweeting on Monday, I decided at, like 4 in the afternoon, that we really should have a handmade advent calender. Crazy right?! So I jumped on the net, went to whip up, searched and saw this post. I really really wanted to make a garland with little bags or stocking but that just wasn't going to happen this year. Instead I decided to make a paper cone garland! Inspiration came from here.

And here is how The Wood Family made a paper cone advent garland!

Take 2 very eager and excited girls and a box of art work. Recycling is always good!

Add in a brother and lets start to write out numbers.

Meanwhile mum is rolling the 24 cones!

Cut out all the lovely numbers and stick them to the cones.

Line them all up and make sure we didn't miss any.
Then punch holes in them, thread with string, hang on the wall and fill with threats...
Well, turns out, I can't hang them up on my own!!  Miss 8 and I tried to stick and blu tack but no. Needs magic sticky on hooks and hubby to help. So we will have to wait until the weekend to hang them. But they are done!! We did it!! Woohoo!!
So as soon as they are up, I'll post pictures, promise! xox

my creative space

Busy busy busy!
Restocking my shop. 5 sales this week!! Ekkkkkk!

Lot of late night sewing on the kitchen table.
Feel like my eyelids have razer blades in them!

We have also had a very scary experience this week.
Boy one was knocked over by a car. He is fine. Few bruises.
We were visiting a girlfriend and her neighbour first backed out and hit my car, then after a brief chat she got back in and continued to back out, lost control, hit a pole and knocked Mr 3 down.
But we were incredibly lucky.
Soooo luck...half a second more and.....I can't even think it.
So hug your love ones tight, so tight

More spaces over here xox

it's started....

....Christmas present making

Big girl is stitching...for the first time on her own!!

Little girl tracing 'Merry Christmas'

Boy one is...well...helping!

Every year I tell myself I'm not going to leave it to the last minute and every year I do! This year I haven't even done my Christmas shopping!! Think I had to be more organised last year with a new baby in the house.
What about you?
I'm I the only one starting now??
And what about Santa?
Does he bring handmade goodies in your house or store brought ones?
Oh the decisions.....xox

twirly twirly

Hi! How are you all these holidays?
Me, sick, but I just had to pop in and show you what I did on the weekend.

Sunday morning there was some talk on twitter about fabric, patterns and sewing, so we decided to have a little sew a twirly skirt alone. Tutorial from here. So easy....if you read the cutting requirement right. I didn't, cut 1 instead of 2 skirt panels. So a little unpicking and resewing later, they twirly!

And I couldn't stop there, made 2 Lazy Days skirts too. They are the easiest things I have ever made. Hour from start to finish. Too easy!

Fabric is from spotlight.

So thanks Mel, Tammy and to whoever else joined in. Let me know if you did so I can check you out!
Great fun! Who would have ever though twitter would be used for a cross country sew a long! I'm sure we will do it again soon xox

Edit : Jaki has made a Lazy Days skirt and has put a twirly skirt on her to do list! Pictures on twitter
Thanks Jaki for joining us too :)

Just waiting to be stufed. Miss 5 wants to do that.....hmmm?!

And here is the progress on Father in laws quilt. Had some issues with the the charm pack (40+ out of 200 were not usable) but I'm getting there.
